As part of the Mental Health & Well-Being Service Week observed from October 4 to 12, the Lions Club of Dimapur Elite, in collaboration with Dimapur 24/7, organised a talk show on mental health at the Dimapur 24/7 office, Midland.
According to a press release from Dimapur 24/7, the session aimed to raise awareness and address common concerns surrounding mental health and counselling. The resource person for the programme was Rashi Jain, counselling psychologist, corporate trainer (EAP), and founder of Mindshift.
During the session, Jain spoke on various aspects including the meaning and importance of mental health, its connection with physical well-being, and the stigma associated with seeking support. She highlighted the benefits of good mental health, signs that indicate the need for care, and the role of counselling and confidentiality. She also clarified the distinctions between counsellors, psychiatrists, and clinical psychologists, while addressing common myths and ways to shift public perception.
The talk further explored the impact of social media and technology on mental wellness, the role of government and community, and practical tips for self-care. Jain emphasized the importance of supportive environments and the need to normalize conversations around mental health.
An interactive session followed, allowing participants to engage directly with the resource person. The programme concluded with a call for collective responsibility in breaking stigma, encouraging timely help-seeking, and promoting mental health as a vital component of overall well-being.
