TASU calls for unity; discusses issues

DIMAPUR

Tobu Area Students’ Union (TASU) held its 42nd Mid-Term Meeting on Friday at Tobu Town, attended by representatives from civil society organisations and all 15 federating units under the union.
At the meeting, TASU called for unity and active cooperation among stakeholders for the progress of Tobu Area.
A key announcement made during the meeting was that the 42nd Federal Assembly-cum-Sports Meet 2026 will be hosted at Tobu Town.
The meeting, chaired by the Federal Assembly of TASU, began with an invocation by Sangki, Association Pastor, Youth TTBC, followed by a welcome address from TASU president, Chongo Konyak. A special number was presented by Mienchangle Students’ Union and an exhortation was delivered by Head GB of Tobu Town, Changlang.
Various issues were discussed including the challenges faced by domestic helpers and daily wage earners, regulation of animal slaughter during feasts, ban on logging, hunting and electro-fishing, education-related concerns, a proposed 5% interest rate cap on local loans, and development activities in the area.
