DIMAPUR: In response to the severe flash flood that struck L/Lampong, Tizit Village and Tizit Town on July 19, the Tizit Area Students’ Union (TASU) initiated a charity cleanliness drive on July 24 to assist affected families and restore cleanliness in the town.
According to a press release, the programme commenced with a prayer at the Local Ground, Tizit Headquarters, after which volunteers carried out cleanliness activities across community gathering places, school campuses, public streets and residences of flood affected families.
The initiative witnessed active participation from Tizit Town Students’ Union, Lapa Lampong Students’ Union, Tizit Village Students’ Union, along with well wishers and numerous volunteers whose dedication and collective efforts contributed to the success of the programme.
TASU expressed gratitude to the District Administration for providing vehicles to collect and dispose of accumulated waste. It also appealed to citizens to continue extending support to affected families during this difficult time and requested the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Tizit to remain fully prepared with adequate medical personnel, medicines and emergency equipment to ensure the health and safety of the people.
The Union further appealed to the state government to intervene promptly and provide necessary relief and assistance to flood affected families so they may recover from the disaster.
