Expressing displeasure over the delay in repairing NH-702 (Namtola-Mon road) and non-resuming of the inter-state connectivity (ISC) road construction from Tizit to Khonsa, the Tizit Area Students’ Union (TASU) has served an ultimatum on the responsible authority to begin repairing of NH-702 latest by the first week of December 2019 and ISC road construction by the second week of December 2019. In a press release, TASU president T Noklem Konyak and general secretary Phoanei Konyak reminded that the union had imposed blockade on NH-702 in 2018, but was lifted following the government’s assurance to look into the matter within a month through the notification dated November 6, 2018. However, TASU lamented that there was no positive response till date and the works have not been started yet. The union has, therefore, warned that it would initiate further course of action if its demand was not addressed within stipulated period.
