TDLSA and MDLSA hold consultation with JJ stakeholders

Tuensang District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA) organised a one-day consultative meeting with stake holders of juvenile justice system at Durbar Hall DEF, Tuensang on August 30.
Delivering the keynote address, principal district and sessions judge Tuensang and chairman TDLSA, Mayang Lima gave a brief interpretation on juvenile justice act while reviewing the acts and rules to work with better juvenile system.
Sharing activities of Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU), OC Longkhim and SJPU member, Neizhalie stressed on the need to equip SJPU through workshop programmes to clear doubts and errors arising out of ignorance, negligence, lack of co-ordination and to avail opportunities.
Presenting the report, district child protection officer Khaikho shared that their role in supervising and creating awareness with cluster of villages and target one school once in a month. 
He reported that village level child welfare committee has been formed within 50 to 60 villages under Tuensang.
Probation officer of observation home, Shilu Lemba reported that at present they have two inmates. Principal magistrate of juvenile justice board and secretary TDLSA, N. Kano appraised the stake holders on the proper functioning system and called for team work in matters relating to children. 
Para Legal Volunteer of Thonoknyu LAC, Pukho Meyo also shared his experience and challenges in dealing with juvenile matters where there is no SJPU, Transport and Homes in remote areas.
Earlier, the meeting was chaired by Retainer Lawyer TDLSA, Yimtsusangla Chang while the recorder was Panel Lawyer TDLSA, Antimangyang Chang. Master trainer, NSLSA, Cheliam Khiamniungan summed up the meeting.

Representatives of Child Welfare Committee (CWC), District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) were present at the meeting.
