Teachers and villagers repair road

Lack of maintenance of the road which was last blacktopped in early 2000 had become deplorable, which resulted in the initiative of nearly 60 teachers towards the project. Initially they had collected money for some months and later approached the village councils of Chakpa, Yaongyimti Old, Yaongyimti New and Phangsand adhoc town for logistical help.
The volunteers repaired nearly ten kilometers of the worst hit stretch of road. Two pickup trucks and one mini truck were pressed into action to transport the boulders while the volunteers filled up the pot holes and also cleared the drainage.
The village council chairmen of the villages involved have expressed deep appreciation to the teaching staff of the schools for their noble initiative. It also appealed the state government of to look into the plight of the people in the area and repair the road at the earliest possible time.
