Teachers’ Day celebrated across Nagaland

Teachers’ Day 2024 was celebrated across Nagaland on Thursday. The day is being celebrated to recognize and honour the teachers across the country.

MOKOKCHUNG

MOKOKCHUNG: The 63rd Teachers Day celebration and felicitation of District Teachers Awardee program was held at the conference hall of hotel Whispering Winds. In a programme organized by the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung Thsuvisie Phoji in his speech praised the teachers for their role in shaping and making the society grow through their tireless service as teachers. He expressed his gratitude to the teachers for their dedication, sincerity and selfless sacrifices made in molding the future generations.


The DC also expressed his gratefulness to the AKM for their continuous efforts in honoring the teachers by organizing such programs every year. The DC further called upon the teachers to be a role model for the students adding that the profession of teaching is a noble profession. He further called upon teachers to leave a rich legacy “even when we are gone”. The DC also congratulated the recipients of this year’s awardees and urged them to continue motivating the students and molding them.


During the programme, short speeches were delivered by the District Education Officer Mokokchung and representatives of ANPSA Mokokchung unit. Meanwhile, the program also witnessed the presentation of District Teachers Award which was given away by the Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung. The awardees were, Lanuyanger, Assistant Teacher, Queen Mary HSS, Temsuchizung PGT, NI Jamir GHSS, Moamenla Primary Teacher, GPS Tuli ‘F’Longrimendang, Graduate Teacher GHS Mangmetong.


Special songs were performed by Soul House Academy and Straightway Hr. Sec, School. The program was chaired by Nochetlong and the president AKM Lanutoshi Aier delivered the welcome address. The program was attended by officers from the district administration, SP Mokokchung and civil society representative from Ao Senden, Watsu Mungdang, MTLT besides others.

WOKHA

WOKHA: Wokha district celebrated its Teachers’ Day at the Lotha Hoho K. The programme was organized by the Education Department of Wokha with Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Vineet Kumar as the special guest.


During the programme, as a part of the Teachers’ Day celebration in Wokha district, four educators were recognized with the District Teachers’ Award for their exceptional contributions.


The awardees were, Binod Pariyar from GHSS Bhandari, H. Lidemo Tungoe from GHSS Wokha, T. Rosanna Lotha from Mount Sinai School Wokha, and Benchumlo Humtsoe from GMS Tsungiki.


DC Vineet Kumar extended warm greetings to all the teachers and acknowledged their crucial role in guiding and shaping the future of students. He emphasized that teachers hold a prestigious position in society, being placed on a high pedestal for their dedication and impact.


ADC (Samagra) Wokha, K Chandemo Patton, also conveyed greetings on behalf of the District Education Office, stating that teachers deserve the highest respect and honor for their guidance and support throughout life’s journey. Senior SDEO Wokha the Z Chanbemo Kikon while delivering delivering the significance of teachers day, added that Teachers’ Day is a tribute to the educators who play a pivotal role in society and thanked the teachers for their constant hard work and commitment.


The program was chaired by Advani C, and a special prayer for the teachers was offered by the Pastor of Wokha Town Hoho Baptist Arogo Tayong Lemtur , GHSS Wokha performed a special song, followed by an ode to teachers presented by Mhonroni N. Kithan, a student of Spring Dale School.


The teachers of GMS Wokha Town Sector ‘A’ also gave a special performance, and the vote of thanks was delivered by JEO Sr. SDEO Office, Y. Daniel Lotha.

KIPHIRE

KIPHIRE: In Kiphire, Teachers Day was organised by DEO Office, Kiphire held with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, Longdiba L. Sangtam as special guest at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall.

In his speech, the ADC thanked the SDEO for inviting him to be a part of the occasion and said, every year we celebrate this day to honor and acknowledge the service rendered by the Teachers. He also emphasis the important profession of the teachers, and the role that they play to shaped our children. He also urged the teachers to influence the students through their personal life.

GHSS AHTHIBUNG

GHSS AHTHIBUNG: Government Higher Secondary School, Ahthibung under Peren District celebrated Teacher’s Day with great enthusiasm. The event featured heartfelt speeches from students and faculties, expressing gratitude and admiration for the teachers’ dedication and hard work. Cultural performances and special awards were presented to the teachers highlighting the positive impact educators have on their students.

TENING

GMS NZAU TENING: Government Middle School Nzau, Tening, Peren, celebrated Teacher’s Day on Thursday. Head Teacher, Thiulengsipi extended gratitude to the teachers for the yeoman service imparted diligently to the students’ community. He lauded the teachers for all the sacrifices made in moulding and shaping the life of younger generation. Notably, he also thanked the outgoing teacher for being not only a guide to students but also a mentor to the fellow colleagues as well.


Sizanpi the outgoing teacher in his speech recalled the old memories he had with all the teachers and students and further encouraged to carry forward the same spirit of oneness in educating the young minds. The program began with a prayer pronounced by Alungpi, speech on behalf of School was delivered by Thiulengpi, Head Teacher.

A melodious music was presented by Assistant Teacher Peramsidinbo, while choreography was performed by pre-primary and upper section Students, and Kedalakbo delivered the vote of thanks. The event was attended by parents and village elders alongside with teachers and students community.

TSEMINYU

TSEMINYU: Combined Tseminyu District Teacher’s Day celebration cum Teacher’s Award 2024, at Baptist Higher Secondary School Auditorium hall, Tseminyu with SDO (civil), Tsidi as the special guest.


On the occasion, Tsidi thanked all the teachers for their tireless efforts in imparting knowledge and shaping the future of the students, and added that a pen can change the world. Speaking on the significance of Teachers day, Kegwayhun Tep said the teachers are undoubtedly the backbone of the society and played a big role in building the character of students.


Teachers Award & Citation 2024 was awarded to Hitilo Kath, G.T (Science) GHSS, Tseminyu. Welcome address was proposed by Hechulo Semy, principal GHSS, Tseminyu while words of gratitude was delivered by K. Munenle Tep AHM, Government High School, Tseminyu.

The highlights of the program were special songs performed by DBS Tseminyu, group song by GHSS Tseminyu and tribute to my teachers’ miracle by Khenlo G. Seb & Nyizanih Apon. Akenyu and Aninkelo Kent were the comperes the programme.

BHANDARI

BHANDARI: The SDEO Bhandari organized the combined Teacher’s Day Celebration under Bhandari sub-division, at Public Ground, Bhandari. Speaking as special guest, MLA & Chairman SDPDB Bhandari, Achumbemo Kikon lauded the teachers for their pro-active role in shaping and moulding the children to be resourceful individuals and to prepare them to be responsible leaders of the future. He called on the teachers to live up to the noble profession and to take pride and honour for the crucial role they play in shaping the society.


Achumbemo also encouraged both teachers and parents to understand that students, who are consider stakeholders of the future, are facing rapid changes in all aspect of life including the educational system.


Kikon asserted that to achieve our set goals in the field of education and to lead our children to the path of success, teachers, students and parents, should work and strive collectively.


He also emphasised on the need to motivate the students to think critically, to think bigger and be inquisitive in these changing times when method of imparting education is seeing a paradigm shift.


During the celebration, SDEO, Bhandari submitted a presentation to the special guest requesting for repair work of the office building of the SDEO, Bhandari and construction of one lodging house for teachers.


The representation also stated that a number of schools and office establishments under Bhandari are under staffed and requested MLA Kikon for deployment of adequate number of staff.

ZUNHEBOTO

ZUNHEBOTO: Along with the rest of the nation, Zunheboto District celebrated 63rd Teachers’ Day, at Town Hall, Zunheboto. During the celebration four teachers were honoured with prestigious Teachers’ Award, for their dedicated services towards the field of education. Awardees of the day were, GT, GHSS Satakha, M Samuel Sema, GT, GMS Surumi, Hewoto, UGHT Sovishe Memorial GHS, Nguvili and GT, Woodland HSS, Avitoli A Ayemi.


Speaking at the programme as the guest speaker, Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, recalled that Dr. Radhakrishnan was also the first Ambassador of Independent India to Soviet Union He also stated that, the responsibility of a teacher is immense, where teacher not only performs its regular job but also are responsible for building and molding the students’ life and gradually contribute in the nation building, and said teachers are the backbone of the nation.

The DC appealed to the teachers by exhorting that a teacher’s job is a noble service and one should understand the nobility of it and execute their assignments of a responsible teacher with utmost sincerity. He concluded by congratulating the awardees and urged them to continue to fulfil the dreams of students by continuing their duties with dedication and sincerity.

Dimapur

DIMAPUR: Common teachers Day celebration in Dimapur was held at Bethesda Higher Secondary School (BHSS) auditorium, Walford Dimapur. The celebration Day was organized by District Education office, Dimapur and All Nagaland Private Schools Association (NPSA) Dimapur unit.


Speaking at the programme as special guest, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dimapur, Tinojongshi, lauded the unwavering dedication and commitment of teachers in shaping the lives of students. And extended warm wishes to the teachers, recognizing their pivotal role in nurturing the future generation and imparting knowledge with compassion and dedication.


The DC expressed gratitude to all educational institutions that have embraced the inclusion of students with special needs. He highlighted the progress made in recent years, noting that previously, students with special needs were often denied opportunities, but now, institutions are making significant efforts to prioritize their education.


Tinojongshi also congratulated the award-winning teachers, stating that while all teachers are deserving of recognition, the government’s structured programs necessitate the selection of a few for honors each year. “Every teacher has won the award in their own right,” he said, urging those who were not selected to not be disheartened but to continue striving for excellence.


Reflecting on the significance of Teachers’ Day, DC Tinojongshi elaborated on the essential role teachers play in shaping the lives of students.
He acknowledged that it is due to their hard work and dedication that students grow to become better individuals.


“Teachers are the pillars of society, nurturing the minds of the next generation. They deserve our utmost respect and appreciation,” he added, calling for collective gratitude towards educators for their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to education.

Speech on behalf of the awardees was delivered by PGT (English) Martha Angami, special song was presented by PM SHRI GHSS Thahekhu. Earlier, the programme was chaired by ToT Susie Ngullie, invocation prayer was proposed by BHSS administrator Esther Murry, opening song was presented by St Thomas higher secondary school and welcome address was delivered by DEO Dimapur Nivizolie Meyase.


Special presentation was delivered by Footprints academy, Kuda, dance was presented by Children with special needs, Christian Higher secondary school. Little star hr secondary school, Midland.


Ode to the teachers was presented by Government Hr Sec school, Purana Bazar. and later vote of thanks was delivered by senior SDEO, Dimapur Jevika Kiba.

NOKLAK

NOKLAK: Along with the rest of the country, Khiamniungan Students Union (KSU) in collaboration with the District Administration and School Education department, Noklak organized Teacher’s Day celebration at Public ground, Noklak, on the theme “En-powering education for a sustainable future”.


Deputy Commissioner, Noklak, Arikumba in his address acknowledged the teachers for being nurturer of the society and the cradle of professions. He urged that it is a duty of one to honour and extend appreciation to teachers, adding that the success of a nation depends on the value given to the teaching professions.

Asserting that Noklak district being new and young with many challenges and issues in many areas, the DC urged the gathering to not to let evil minds take advantage of the challenges rather let commitments be the driving force behind the initiatives. Stating that the role of a teacher is critical and adventurous at the same time, the DC encouraged the teachers to recognize their role in the society. He extended his appreciation to the KSU for organising the programme in a befitting matter.


President Eastern Nagaland Students Federation, Chingmak Chang in his speech appreciated the teachers for working tirelessly for the upliftment of the students. He requested the teachers to be true to their profession and mould the students irrespective of their background.


SDEO in charge Noklak, Y, Khongkhao acknowledged and congratulated the two state Teachers’ awardees: KV Joseph Senior Teacher, Holy Angels School, Noklak and T. Chiye, PT GMS, Sanglao. He also presented the District teachers awardees to B. Ruth, PGT, GHSS Noklak and P.L Shingnya, GPS Noklak Village.


Welcome addressed was delivered by representative of KSU, P. Shangchiu while vote of thanks was delivered by Education Secretary, KSU, Ningpao. Teachers and students from various Schools from both Private and government Schools under Noklak District attended the programme.
