Teams invited to book Kohima Premier League slots

Correspondent

Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) and it’s partners, 3E has invited interested teams to book their slots for the upcoming Kohima Premier League (KPL) with the last date for the booking set on March 31, 2024. Colony/Ward/Village/Range football teams interested in taking part in KPL, are invited to book their respective slots allotted as follows –

Slot 1 – ward 1, 2 & 3
Slot 2 – ward 5, 6 & 9
Slot 3 – ward 4, 7 & 8
Slot 4 – ward 11, 12 & 13
Slot 5 – ward 14, 15 & 16
Slot 6 – Ward 10, 17, 18 & 19
Slot 7 – Kohima village areas under rural jurisdiction.
Slot 8 – Northern Angami excluding Kohima village.
Slot 9 – Southern Angami excluding urban wards.
Slot 10 – Western Angami excluding urban wards.

KPL will feature 10 teams in a round robin league championship followed by a top 4 knockout playoff. At the end of the season, top 8 teams will qualify for the next season while bottom 2 teams will be relegated and two new teams will be introduced to complete the roster. The slots are allotted in such a manner so as to cover all the urban and rural areas of Kohima. However, if an allotted slot is not taken up, it will be offered to any other interested team so long as the players belong to Kohima District and are registered under KDFA, with the exception of 5 players from outside Kohima that will be allowed for all the teams.

Each slot will carry a base price and colonies/wards/villages can jointly form a team and book their respective slot but if there are two or more interested teams in a particular slot, auction rules will be applied to determine the slot.
In order to ensure that teams obtain revenue to manage themselves besides cash prizes and team sponsors, a minimum of 500 seasonal tickets and 1000 gallery tickets per match will be distributed to all the teams for the league stage.

Further, the top 4 teams that proceed to the knockout playoffs will be given match allowances and separate cash prizes.
Team formation rules and bylaws will be communicated after team allocations are finalised.
The last date for booking the allotted slots will be March 31, after which unclaimed slot(s) will be openly offered to any interested team.
Colony/Ward/Village/Range youth bodies are therefore informed to call the following numbers to express their interest – 7005785990, 9862181431.

It may be that KDFA and 3E had recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the conduct of KPL. The event is expected to rope in renowned and upcoming talents in football and has the potential to reach the grassroot level players.
