DIMAPUR: A technical session on Census 2027 was conducted at the Police Headquarters, Kohima, where a team of Census officials briefed senior police officers on the administrative framework, personnel deployment and technological arrangements for the upcoming exercise in Nagaland.
The team made detailed presentations on the organisational structure, manpower engagement and digital initiatives being introduced for Census 2027. Dr. Kenei Miachieo, director of Census Operations Nagaland, informed that the chief secretary is the chairman of the State Census Committee, while the home commissioner serves as the state nodal officer.
Highlighting key features of the digital census, Dr. Miachieo said the exercise will utilise a dedicated mobile application for data collection, high resolution satellite imagery for mapping, and a real time monitoring system to ensure efficient implementation. He added that over 6,100 officials through 157 charge officers have been deployed to cover all villages and towns across the state.
The session was attended by senior police officers including Vikhosa Chakhesang, DIG (Admin); Videlalie, DIG; Teisovise Metha, DIG; Wati Jamir, AIG and others. The Census team comprised Dr. Kenei Miachieo; Er. Asono Mor, additional director, Department of IT; and David Rhutso, deputy director, Department of Economics & Statistics.
Chairing the session, Wati Jamir, AIG welcomed the team and expressed appreciation for the informative presentation, thanking officials for sharing valuable insights into preparations for Census 2027.
