The body of an unidentified teenaged girl was discovered from a new building block under construction at Dr. Neilhouzhü Kire Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Seikhazou here Tuesday morning.
It was reported that the body was discovered when construction workers went to start work on the unfinished building at around 9 a.m. The body was covered underneath a blue tarpaulin sheet.
According to Addl. SP & PRO, Kohima, the age of the deceased was put between 15 to 17 years. The victim was fair complexioned and approximately 4 ft. 10 inch in height, wore a white coloured sweat shirt with the worlds “PARIS” printed on it.
PRO said that the body has been kept at North Police Station morgue for identification. Police have asked any person, relatives or community members known to the deceased to contact North Police Station, Kohima for more information.
Meanwhile, an eye witness disclosed that the body was found on the first floor of the new building under construction. There were fresh blood stains on the concrete floor where the body was found leading police to believe that the body was discovered not long after the murder.
The body was sent for post-mortem while police were trying to confirm identify of the deceased.
Police said the body bore head and face injury marks made by a blunt object and a boulder found near the body could have been the murder weapon.
Meanwhile, interacting with Nagaland Post, some nearby residents claimed that they did not hear anything and that they only came to know about the crime after the body was discovered.
Meanwhile, Dr Neilhouzhü Kire GHSS principal Dr Bijano Murry expressed anguish over the brutal murder of the unidentified young girl inside the school premise. She said after teachers checked those absent from class that day, it was confirmed that the victim may not have been a student.
