The MDFA Trophy 2025 witnessed a goal-filled day as the third and fourth quarterfinal matches concluded with emphatic victories for Telongjem FC and Chargers FC, securing their spots in the semifinals on Tuesday at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
In the first match of the day, Telongjem FC cruised past Sports Society Soyim (SSS) with a commanding 4-0 win. The team took an early lead when Tarepnungsang (9) netted the opening goal in the 5th minute. Thejasetuo (19) doubled the score in the 34th minute, giving Telongjem FC a comfortable 2-0 advantage at halftime.
Resuming with renewed momentum, Telongjem FC continued their dominance as Tarepnungsang struck again in the 49th minute. Vikaho Kiho sealed the victory with a fourth goal in the 60th minute, eliminating SSS from the tournament and propelling Telongjem FC into the semifinals.
The second quarterfinal match saw Chargers FC deliver a resounding 7-0 defeat to Thunderbolt FC, marking the highest scoreline of the tournament so far. Takotoba (16) opened the scoring in the 5th minute, followed by a remarkable hat-trick from Longkhai (7), who found the net in the 11th, 24th, and 68th minutes—becoming the first player to achieve a hat-trick in this year’s trophy.
Yangersosang (15) added the fourth goal in the 31st minute, closing the first half at 4-0. Chargers FC maintained their attacking momentum in the second half, adding three more goals to complete the 7-0 rout and secure their place in the semifinals.
With these results, the semifinal fixtures for the MDFA Trophy 2025 are now set, promising more thrilling football action in the days ahead.
