Minister of Higher & Technical Education, Temjen Imna Along inaugurated the 100 bedded Goodwill Boys’ Hostel at Kohima College (KC) in the presence of director, Higher Education, Anungla Aier and other faculty members on Tuesday.
According to DIPR report, the minister in his speech thanked the Almighty God for the goodwill and good things happening in the department ever since he took over. He said it was time for the Nagas to believe and work in unison.
He also conveyed Christmas greetings and asked the gathering to do something good for other people particularly those who were in need of support in order to have a blessed Christmas. On this Christmas, he challenged everyone to cut off their wants and look for the welfare of others.
He said the newly inaugurated Goodwill Boys’ Hostel was not only a property of Kohima College nor Higher Education department or government but property of “our” destiny.
Executive engineer, School Education, Kelechütuo Pienyü while presenting technical report said that the 100 bedded hostel at Kohima College began in 2013 by M/s Eastern Associates with an estimated budget of Rs. 480 lakh. The building comprises of ground floor, 1st floor and 2nd floor, funded by University Grants Commission and HUDCO, he said.
Principal, Kohima College, Dr. Watijungshi in his welcome address said that the college has 50 bedded girls hostel which will be extended in the coming years. He also said that from January 2019, 50 students will start occupying the newly inaugurated Goodwill Boys hostel.
Assistant Professor, Theyiesinuo Keditsu chaired the programme while warden Boys Hostel, Evothung proposed the vote of thanks.
