Advisor of Transport & Technical Education, Temjenmenba, called on the youth to move beyond their dependence on government jobs and embrace entrepreneurship as a viable path to progress.
He was speaking as chief guest at the inauguration of Dimapur branch office of the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Promotion Council of India (MSME PCI), at Orchid Square, Indisen Village on Friday.
Describing the event as “a milestone for Nagaland,” Temjenmenba acknowledged the saturation of government employment and emphasized that private sector growth and entrepreneurship offer the most promising avenues for the younger generation. He highlighted India’s demographic advantage, with over 65% of the population below 35 years, and said the responsibility to drive growth lies with the present generation. “If India is to become a developed nation by 2047, this is the generation that will lead the way,” he stated.
He also stressed the need for targeted interventions in academics, skill development, entrepreneurship, and technology, and encouraged youth to use platforms like MSME PCI to bridge gaps between schemes and opportunities. While noting challenges posed by Nagaland’s unique land-holding system, he said the foothill road project was aimed at connecting special economic zones to attract investment.
Special guest, DC Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, expressed concern over the rising preference for white-collar jobs among youth. He encouraged them to embrace entrepreneurship, stating that MSMEs offer the best alternative to boost the state’s economy.
DMC CEO, Thungchanbemo Tungoe, in his brief message, termed the inauguration “an opening of opportunities” and assured DMC’s support to MSME PCI initiatives.
Nagaland State MSME PCI chairman, Lanuakum Jamie, outlined the Council’s vision and objectives. Established in 2008 as a non-profit body, MSME PCI works nationwide to support micro, small, and medium enterprises through capacity building, market development, technology upgradation, financial linkages, and policy advocacy.
He highlighted the Council’s MSMEPCI Kaushal Vikas Yojana, which aims to equip unemployed men and women at grassroots levels with industry-related knowledge. He also emphasized support for the Make in India mission, MSME loan facilitation, project report preparation, and free business registration under the MSME portal. Jamie said the Dimapur office would serve as a hub for training, networking, and entrepreneurship.
The programme was chaired by vice chairman, MSME PCI Dimapur, Aosashi Longkumer, welcome address by Dimapur District Chairman, MSME PCI Washipong Longkumer, and vote of thanks by vice chairman, MSME PCI Dimapur District, Sentimeren Jamir, and benediction by Rev. Dr. Temjen Ozukum.
