DIMAPUR: Advisor for Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba, highlighted both developmental and political aspects of the constituency in the light of the 100th year anniversary of the Ao Students’ Conference to be held at Waromung village.
He was speaking at the programme where office bearers of the revamped NPF party units at Waromung village and Alongkima town were administered oath of allegiance, while NPF flags were also hoisted at the respective unit treasurers’ residences by 29 Jangpetkong AC NPF president Aodangnok Ozukum on July 10.
On the developmental front, Temjenmenba acknowledged the pitiable road condition and informed that the Chief Minister had given priority and sanctioned funds for its construction.
On the political aspect, Temjenmenba said that having two regional parties-NDPP and NPF-was not in the interest of the Nagas. He explained that the merger of the two parties was undertaken to promote and protect Naga identity and interests, thereby forming one strong regional party representing the people. He urged party workers, especially at the grassroots, to remain politically active, stressing that elected representatives can be strong only with the support and cooperation of the electorate.
Administering the oath, Ozukum reminded inductees that it was not a mere utterance of words but a sacred vow to adhere to party principles, work for the people’s interests and remain loyal to the party flag and high command.
Speakers at the programme appreciated the sacrifices and accommodations made during the merger of NDPP and NPF, noting that both parties had strong presence in the constituency. They lauded the political insight of unit leaders and expressed confidence in the leadership of Temjenmenba and Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio.
