Tening village Namsan (New Tening village) under Peren District celebrated Chega Gadi , the most important festival of the Liangmai Naga on October 30 . The festival falls in the month of Chagahiu i.e, October and on dates- 30 and 31 every year
Earlier, the Liangmai Naga forefathers observed the festival for a duration of 4 to 5 days but the was reduced to 2 to 3 days in time of any casualty. A press release by Rutmakbo Media Cell Tening Namsan stated that the president of Village Development Board ( VDB) Peren Unit Kinkariulung graced the festival as the guest of honour.
The festival marks people’s belief that the Almighty showers his blessing and brings good harvest, good health, riches and good luck on the day. The celebration is marked by feasting and merrymaking. Highlights of the festival are : long jump, wrestling, cock fight and other traditional games etc.
