A tense situation prevailed along the Assam-Nagaland after bodies of two youths hailing from Sonari, Assam were found dead under mysterious circumstances in Mon district.
It may be mentioned that Mon police on Monday recovered the bodies of two persons—Latil Nowholia and Utpal Tassa hailing from Assam, who were reportedly killed in an accident in Angjanyang area, Mon. However, residents of Sonari alleged that the two youths were suspected to have been killed and not death by accident.
There have been reports that residents of Sonari have launched a protest and blocked the road leading to Nagaland. A video also went viral on social media, in which protestors could be seen blocking the road in Sonari area. Assam police personnel were also rushed to the area to contain the situation. Meanwhile, authorities in Nagaland have cautioned travellers to avoid taking the route till situation was brought under control.
