
Tetso College (TC) celebrated its annual Scholastic Day 2019, an award ceremony meant for celebrating excellence, at the college amphitheatre with director Mission Facilitators (USA), Rev. Dr. Mazie Nakhro on February 2.
A press release from TC media cell stated that Rev. Dr. Mazie Nakhro in his address reminded students that the potential for growth was limitless and opportunities lay in challenges. Dr. Nakhro encouraged students to keep in mind what they were supposed to be doing and discover where they could excel.
A new staff room in the new academic block was also inaugurated. Dr. Hewasa Lorin, vice principal of the college in her welcome address announced the introduction of a new MA English program for the academic session 2019.
In the area of technology, it was announced that GPS was being fitted into the college app to allow students to track buses more conveniently. The college’s DOT Talks reporters are also initiating their own online news site to bring out news in Nagaland and beyond.
One highlight of the program was the launch of The Tetso Interdisciplinary Journal Volume 7, focusing on the theme Indigenous Perspectives in North East India, by Rev. Dr. Mazie Nakhro and Dr. P.S. Lorin.
Another highlight was the presentation of the Governor P.B. Acharya’s ‘Dr.T Ao Award’ to Aito of BA 4th semester (taekwondo), Zuchopemo N Odyuo, B.A. 4th semester (badminton), and Iteibamle of BA 6th semester for badminton. The annual E-book of the English department titled Echo: A Tetso College Anthology of Art and Literature, was also launched.
In the perfect attendance award, three teaching faculty and 12 students received recognitions this year. The Tetso student of the year 2018 award from the degree level went to Chubamenla of B.A 4th semester, while Izidielie of Class 11 commerce was the Tetso student of the year 2018 at the higher secondary level. B.A 6th semester were declared the overall class champions of the year 2018. The program concluded with a prayer for students appearing in the upcoming NBSC, HSSLC examinations, by Dr. P.S Lorin.
