Thahekhu Platinum Jubilee concludes with call for faith & hope

Staff ReporterDIMAPUR, MAR 17 (NPN):

The three-day Platinum Jubilee celebration of Thahekhu Village and Thahekhu Village Baptist Church (TVBC), held under the theme “God of Generations,” culminated on Tuesday with a spiritually uplifting service, attended by more than 4,000 people.
Delivering the sermon on the concluding day, senior pastor, TVBC, Rev. Dr. Yehevi Jimo, spoke on the sub-theme ‘God of Generations: Hope’, urging the congregation to remain steadfast in faith and to look forward with hope in God’s promises.
Quoting from the Bible, he said, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for”, adding that hope reflects a forward-looking trust in God.
Drawing from the life of Abraham, Dr. Jimo highlighted how God fulfilled His promise by blessing Abraham and Sarah with a son, Isaac, despite their old age, Abraham being over 100 years and Sarah 90, demonstrating that faith in God transcends human limitations.
Referring to Hebrews 11, he noted that the people of old lived with unwavering faith, setting their hearts on things above and trusting in God’s eternal promises. He also spoke on the life of Moses, underscoring God’s faithfulness and mercy through his journey.
Rev Jimo further encouraged believers to persevere with patience, stating that Christians are called to look ahead with endurance and hope even beyond the jubilee celebrations.
He also urged the gathering to seek a future marked by long life, blessings, prosperity, wisdom, capable leadership and a good name, while ultimately looking upwards towards heaven.
Emphasising the importance of righteous living, he asserted that obedience brings blessings, and that integrity and honesty are essential virtues for receiving God’s favour.
He also called upon the congregation to remain obedient, humble and truthful in their walk with God.
Urging self-reflection, Dr. Jimo encouraged all to introspect, confess their sins, express gratitude for God’s mercy, and continually seek His blessings.
Earlier, the closing programme was chaired by associate pastor, TVBC, Jetovi Chishi, invocation was offered by home evangelist, TVBC, Aghali T. Zhimo, and special presentations were made by the Jubilee choir and Hejeto Ssa.
A greetings message was also delivered by chairman, board of deacons, TVBC, K. Ahovi Ayemi, and benediction pronounced by secretary, Department of Pastoral Development (DoPD), WSBAK, Hetovi Aye.
