A thanksgiving mass was organized for the second “religious sister” from St. Alphonsa, Church, Vongva, under Kiphire district, Reverend Sr. Mercy Tsughili on May 2 with secretary to Bishop Reverend Fr. Thomas Toretkiu as the main celebrant.
Reverend Sr. Mercy was brought to the Church by the parents and relations accompanied by the women of Vongva community in traditional songs and dances.
Reverend Sr. Mercy Tsughili hails from Vongva Village and was born as the eldest of the four siblings to Hosito Elias and Sangsula Catherine.
She began her studies in pursuit of the Sisters of Ursuline Franciscan Congregation in the year 2009, Assisi Convent, Dimapur, continued her PU at St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, Pre-Novitiate at Holy Rosary Convent, Mangalore, Novitiate at St. Ursula’s Novitiate, Dimapur and First Profession at Assisi Convent, Dimapur on April 23, 2015.
In the programme, Sr. Tsughili also expressed her sentiments of gratitude to all those who helped her to this pace.
In his homily, Reverend Fr. Thomas Toretkiu spoke of God’s love that invaded “our” lives and how with the tenderness of a mother nourished and cared for his children.
He quoted Jeremiah 31.3 and said the relation God has with his children caused one’s faith to grow in stature and to assume the dimension of responsive love.
The programme was anchored by Teresa Mathew, congratulation songs, skit were presented by the villages of Cideyevong, Phuvki, Vongva and Pungro.
In the programme, Reverend F Sajimon, Loyola, Kokto, Charles concelebrated the Holy Eucharist while Reverend Fr. Sajimon, Parish Priest accorded the words of welcome to the fathers, sisters and invited guest.
ADC, Meluri, John Tsülise and other dignitaries were the special guest for the thanksgiving mass. The auspicious day ended with the community meal.
