Therie welcomes passage of women’s reservation bill

Former NPCC president K. Therie has welcomedthe passage of the women’s reservation bill in both Houses of Parliament. In a press note, Therie said the celebration was dampened as the Bill was linked with decadal census and delimitation. Therie expressed the hope that women reservation would come into effect by next state assembly elections and 2029 Parliamentary elections. He claimed that it was the Congress which had initiated women’s reservation to which it remained firmly committed.

Therie also expressed the hope that more women participation would change the political equations altogether since state Assemblies and Parliament needed natural essence in shaping policies and in planning for the welfare of the people.

Therie also urged upon women in Nagaland to prepare at all levels, especially for ULBs and the forthcoming elections and to attend public meetings to understand the ongoing situations.
