Thetsumi village initiatives on sustainable and inclusive community

In a significant step towards creating a sustainable and inclusive community, Thetsumi Village in Phek district, has introduced three pioneering initiatives.

Under the first initiative, “Productive Employment at 75” which aims to provide opportunities for village elders aged 75 and above, alongside People with Disabilities (PWDs) for climate action.

The initiative enables the stakeholders to raise nurseries of suitable fruit trees, timber trees, and flowering trees, on a daily basis. The nurseries will be established in the 4 Khels of the village and will support the village to meet its target of planting one Million Trees (both fruit trees and trees of economic interest).

The second resolution encourages and makes compulsory for all individuals of Thetsumi Village to construct homes within the village, by utilising available community land.
Lastly, the members called for preserving the village dialect, Kezha.

According to tEA Documentation Associate Keletsino Mejura, the resolutions were passed unanimously at the common public meeting, held at the village community hall on February 25, 2025.
