Thilixu sub-centre upgraded to H&WC in Dimapur

Upgradation of Thilixu sub-center to Health & Wellness Centre (H&WC) was inaugurated by National Health Mission (NHM) Kohima mission director, Dr. Kevichusa Medikhru on October 31.

A press release by NHM Dimapur district media officer, Kimnei stated that, Dr. Kevichusa Medikhru in his inaugural speech informed that, H&WC has been created by transforming the existing sub-center and would deliver comprehensive primary health care, bringing healthcare closer to the homes of people covering both maternal and child health services and non-communicable diseases, including free essential drugs and diagnostic services and recently telemedicine as well. 

He stated that nowadays, most people suffer from non-communicable disease such as hypertension, diabetes, cancer, etc which in the future leads to cancer, kidney or heart problems, which can be easily prevented if treated early. 

Pointing out that H&WC would provide primary health care services as well as screen for NCD and cancer, he urged the community to avail these services at their door steps. 

He also informed that a community health officer was being posted at Health & Wellness Centre, trained specially to provide the services. 

Director (dental) Dr. H. Hotokhu Chishi, stated that the opening of a health centre was for the upliftment of the community, and the community must co-operate and support the health staff when needed. 

He also lauded that the health unit building was solely built by the Thilixu community. 

Earlier, chairman, Thilixu Village Council, Nikhevi Yeptho, declared that the Thilixu community would provide any additional land or room needed for a fully functional health unit.

Dedication of the H&WC and invocation prayer was delivered by Rev. Dr. Hevukhu Achumi, sr. pastor, TVBC in the programme chaired by Dr. Mereninla Senlem, CMO Dimapur. 

Special song was performed by Ithito Kiba, vote of thanks by Hecto Kiba, Atokukau Thilixu village and bendiction by Esther, women pastor, TVBC.

Other officials included Dr. Kheshito Zhimo, jt. director, Dr. Kuveduyi Theyo, MS, Dr. Antoly, dy. CMO,  Dr. Benchilo, DTO, Dr. Rebecca, DPO, Dr. Kheshika, SMO, DPMU staff, H&WC staff and members of the village council.
