Third tripartite meet on FNT resolves key issues: ENPO

DIMAPUR, JUL 25 (NPN)

Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) has informed that the third tripartite High-Level Committee meeting held on July 23 in New Delhi successfully resolved several major contentious issues pertaining to the proposed Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT).
In a statement, ENPO disclosed that the meeting significantly narrowed down differences among the parties, with only a few remaining matters to be settled by the Nagaland government.
The meeting was convened at the new office complex of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) at Janpath, New Delhi. The Government of India delegation was led by union home secretary Govind Mohan and included Intelligence Bureau (IB) director Tapan Deka, MHA additional secretary (NE) Piyush Goyal, adviser (NE) A.K. Mishra, joint secretary (NE) Niraj Kumar Bansod and IB joint director Rakesh Kamble.
Nagaland government was represented by state home commissioner Anoop Khinchi and joint resident commissioner of Nagaland House, Delhi, Sharon Longchari, while the ENPO delegation was led by its president Chingmak Chang.
ENPO noted that Govind Mohan and MHA officials approached the discussions with seriousness and practicality. It said Mohan directed the state government’s representative to resolve some of their stands within a fortnight.
The next round of the tripartite High-Level Committee meeting has been scheduled for August.
Disclosing this, ENPO said it was very positive that all the parties involved would work towards resolving the remaining issues at the earliest, and speed up the process for the establishment of FNT without delay.
ENPO also extended its gratitude to the churches and individuals for their prayers and logistical support.
