Thongwang releases a book on Eastern Nagaland

DUDA advisor N Thongwang Konyak on Friday released a book “Eastern Nagaland at a glance” during a BADP vocational training at Pusa crafts centre, Jharnapani, Medziphema Dimapur.
Speaking at the function organised by Department of Underdeveloped Areas (DUDA), he said the department has been organizing capacity building programme/skill development programmes every year also provides minimum tools, machines and accessories to the successful trainees. He congratulated the trainees who had undergone three-month vocational training on bamboo/woodcrafts and tailoring at Pusa craft centre and Savino crafts research development training centre.  
The first batch of 2015 comprising of twenty nine trainees underwent training from January 25 till April 25. He also said that the main objective of the training was to encourage and guide them to make an alternative livelihood through the skill development courses. It may be mentioned that Border Area Development Program (BADP) entered Nagaland state in 1997-98 in the ninth plan along with the other states in the country bordering China, Myanmar and Bangladesh.  Earlier, the programme was chaired by commissioner & secretary, department of underdevelopment areas, L Kire, welcome song was presented by Pusa crafts centre trainees, short speech by K Libanthung Lotha and vote of thanks by director DUDA followed by distribution of tools/machine to trainee.
