Three-day Craft Fair and Exhibition commences

The three-day Craft Fair and Exhibition opened its inaugural session on February 26 at the Integrated Business Hub and Innovation Centre, Forest Colony, Dimapur. Organized by the Mind Blowers Club (MBC), sponsored by the North Eastern Council (NEC), and co-sponsored by the Cooperative Bank of India, the exhibition will run until February 28.
The event was graced by chairman of CNCCI, Dr. Khekugha Muru, who also served as the chief guest. Speaking at the programme, Dr. Muru highlighted the growing international demand for authentic handcrafted products in a market dominated by mechanized and mass-produced goods. He praised the talent and creativity of Naga artisans and emphasized the importance of nurturing grassroots talent through structured programs.
Highlighting the evolving global market landscape, Dr. Muru observed that while mechanized and mass-produced goods dominate modern markets, there is a growing international demand for exotic, authentic, handcrafted products. He emphasized that the talent and creativity of the Naga people are second to none.
Dr. Muru stressed the importance of nurturing grassroots talent and identifying beneficiaries through structured programs. He noted that such platforms are not just for buying and selling but also serve as spaces for networking, collaboration, idea-sharing, and learning—experiences that provide long-term value and growth.
He urged the Government of Nagaland to support grassroots initiatives and skill development programmes, and encouraged youths and the public to engage with artisans, motivating creativity and entrepreneurship.
Delivering the welcome address, MBC President, Yangerla Jamir stated that the event was organized with the objective to bring artisans and craftsmen together on a shared platform, showcasing their creations, exploring market opportunities for sustainability, and building a community that values traditional knowledge and skill. For every exhibitor, she said it was a chance to connect, learn.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, MBC publicity and information secretary Yanger noted that this is the first time they are organizing the event. He added that they plan to continue it in the future and noted that the central government is also planning even larger events of this kind. He said that the exhibition has 25 stalls in total from Nagaland and one stall from Assam.
Earlier, the program was chaired by Prop. Peren town, GuguHaralu, invocation by Imesenla. The three-day Craft Fair and Exhibition will feature live craft demonstrations, seminars on B2B, and workshops on traditional handmade jewellery and crochet crafts. Entry and seminars are free, and the event runs daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
