Thunderstorms, rain likely in several districts

DIMAPUR, MAR 12 (NPN):

Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority has issued a weather advisory for the period from March 13 to 16, warning of localized thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rainfall in several districts of the state.
In a press release, NSDMA Jt. chief executive officer Dr. Johnny Ruangmei said districts likely to be affected between March 13 and 15 included Dimapur, Kohima, Wokha, Mokokchung, Longleng, Mon, Zunheboto, Tuensang, Peren and Phek.
It said isolated heavy rainfall was also likely at a few locations, particularly in Longleng, Mokokchung and Wokha around March 13-14. Intermittent light to moderate rainfall likely in Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Tuensang, Peren and Noklak districts during the same period.
Overall, the state is expected to experience unstable weather conditions characterized by scattered thunderstorms, lightning activity and intermittent rainfall, with localized heavy rainfall in some districts.
NSDMA has urged the public to exercise caution and stay updated with weather advisories to avoid any eventualities. It also requested all District Disaster Management Authorities and line departments to remain on high alert to safeguard lives and property. For emergencies, the public may contact the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) at the toll-free number 1070.
