Tiranga Yatra was conducted across Mokokchung Town on May 71, drawing over 700 participants from all walks of life in a vibrant display of national pride, unity, and patriotism. The event also paid tribute to the bravery and valor of the Indian Armed Forces, particularly in light of the recent Operation Sindoor, which underscored India’s military strength and strategic capabilities.
Organized as a collaborative effort by citizens, ex-servicemen, student groups, and community organizations, the yatra aimed to reinforce the ideals of unity and patriotism, honor the armed forces for their courage during Operation Sindoor, foster collaboration among communities and institutions and provide a platform for public expression of national pride.
The event saw participation from ex-servicemen, Assam Rifles personnel, NCC cadets, students, religious and tribal bodies, and local leaders.
BJP Mokokchung District and NDPP Mokokchung Region played a key role in supporting and coordinating the event.
Participants marched with national flags, traditional attire, and placards while chanting patriotic slogans.
At Police Point, Imkong L. Imchen, MLA & Advisor, IPR & Soil and Water Conservation, delivered a special address highlighting the importance of national unity and the sacrifices of the armed forces.
The day began at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, where a brief program was held. Associate pastor, MTBA, Rev. Wati led the invocation prayer, followed by a stirring performance by the Assam Rifles Pipe Band.
