DIMAPUR, SEP 27 (NPN): The inaugural 35+ 8vs8 Futsal Tournament, organized by Vigor Sporting Club, Chümoukedima, concluded on Saturday with Titan FC, Dimapur emerging as champions.
The tournament, which began on August 8 at JJ Arena, Chümoukedima, featured a competitive round-robin format before the top eight teams advanced to the knockout stages. In the highly anticipated final, Titan FC edged Salulumang FC with a solitary decisive goal to lift the title. The champions received a cash prize of Rs. 60,000, while Salulumang settled for the runner-up prize of Rs. 30,000.
In the individual awards, the Best Player award was bagged by Saku (Salulumang FC) with trophy & mobile phone worth Rs. 25,000, sponsored by Innovation World, Chümoukedima. Highest Scorer by Shalo Kemp (Aphuyemi FC, Dimapur) with Rs. 5,000 & Golden Boot; Best Goalkeeper by Wati (Titan FC) with Rs. 5,000 & Golden Glove. All trophies were sponsored by Sports Arena Nagaland, Chümoukedima.
The final program was graced by co-owner of Fit Factor Gym & Switch Music Arena Dimapur, Zayn, as special guest. Associate Pastor of DABA, Imnatoshi Longkumer, delivered a motivational address urging participants to remain active beyond their athletic prime, emphasizing teamwork, discipline and unity as the foundations of a strong society.
The ceremony was anchored by PGT at Mount Mary HSS, Soyim Longkumer and began with an invocation by chaplain of Mount Mary College, Takoyanger. A special musical performance was presented by Jungtina Jamir of Mount Mary HSS. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by general secretary of Vigor Sporting Club Dr. Teeya Imsong.
