NSCN (I-M) vice chairman Tongmeth Wangnao has described as “unexpected and very unfortunate” the death of Akato-NSCN member in the custody of NSCN (I-M) at Lapalampong under Tizit.
Condemning the killing of its member, the Akato-led NSCN had recently stated that four of its active members including three “civil officials and one Naga Army” were abducted, tortured and “one was mercilessly beaten and butchered to death by the NSCN (IM).”
In a statement, NSCN (I-M) vice chairman Tongmeth Wangnao said all the Nagas have been yearning for peace and reconciliation, and for which reconciliation meetings took place many times in many places. Tongmeth said he used to represent in almost all the meetings both at home and abroad.
“While thing goes smoothly and peace prevails for very long time the incident that happened in Lapalampong Tizit is unexpected and very unfortunate,” he said.
NSCN (I-M) vice chairman said that had the “sense of self control exist and restraint, had the opinion of superiors been sought” such occurrence could have been prevented and human life saved.
Tongmeth asserted that similar activities must not be repeated in days to come.
NSCN (I-M) vice chairman also conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
