TKM launches T-TEP for skill development

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Friday launched Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) at Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre, Dimapur.
The primary objective of T-TEP was to enhance the student’s skill sets with special focus on rural areas, thereby strengthening their employability through the company’s unique training and to reach out to 56 institutes all over India.
Commissioner and Secretary, department of Industries and Commerce, Kekhrievor Kevichusa graced the launching programme as chief guest which was also attended by other dignitaries from Technical education and ITI education board in the presence of Vikheho Swu, dealer principal, Okusa Toyota; Varinder Kumar Wadhwa, general manager-associate and Ravi Prakash Sontakke deputy general manager, TKM.
Speaking on the occasion, Kekhrievor Kevichusa said that the initiative will have a big impact towards developing highly skilled, employable and future ready youths.
He maintained that these efforts of collaboration by industry partners like Toyota aligned with the Government of India’s Skill India Mission will support in bridging the existing skills gap and help develop world-class workforce in state of Nagaland. Expressing his views, Vikram Gulati, country head and executive vice president, TKM said that Toyota was known for its exceptional quality products and services globally, which stems from developing world-class people, processes, and necessary infrastructure.
Talking about the partnership, Vikheho said that with the advancements in technology in the auto industry and unprecedented growth in motorization, there was a need to ensure that the consumers receive the best-in-class services, especially in rural areas.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor is associated with 56 ITIs/Polytechnic Institutes covering 22 states across the country. Currently, more than 10,000 students have been trained and 70% of the students are working in various automobile company dealerships in the country.
As a part of the initiative, Toyota will support the institute with latest curriculum covering automobile fundamentals, safety, Toyota values and basic soft skills.
The company along with its dealer partner has invested over Rs 1.5 million towards infrastructure, e-learning contents, engines, transmissions, practice kits and train the institute’s faculty through its unique Train-The-Trainer approach.
In addition, TKM’s dealer partner – Okusa Toyota will also support by providing on-job-training to these students. Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre will effectively adopt this program via T-TEP syllabus and enable the students to undergo the on-the-job training.
A total of 11 students were trained and were handed certificates at the launching programme, out of which two trainees were offered placement at Okusa Toyota, Dimapur.
