With the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections set for April 23, political activity has intensified. Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), will contest all 234 constituencies independently. The party will introduce its candidates at a public meeting in Mamallapuram on March 27, where Vijay will present them and outline the party’s vision.
Vijay is expected to contest from Perambur in Chennai, though official confirmation is pending. His entry has drawn attention among youth and first-time voters. TVK’s campaign trail begins March 28, with Vijay addressing meetings in Perambur, Kolathur, Villivakkam, Anna Nagar, and Virugambakkam. Permissions allow gatherings of up to 3,000 people, but requests for 12 other constituencies were denied by the Election Commission.
These restrictions follow the Karur stampede in September 2025, which claimed 41 lives during a programme of Vijay, prompting stricter crowd control measures. As polling nears, TVK’s debut adds a new element to the state’s electoral contest.
