The 1st district level co-ordination committee for National Tobacco Control programme, Phek district was held at DPDB hall, DC’s office on March 17.
Exhorted the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Phek Murohu Chotso encouraged everyone to fight the harmful effects of tobacco inorder to live a long and a healthy life. He also encouraged the gathering to aim at making Phek a tobacco –free district. While assuring to issue directive to the traders and vendors of Tobacco to comply with the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Acts (COTPA), 2003, called upon the youth to take active part in helping the authority in implementing the act in the district by being a part of the Tobacco Enforcement Squad. He also urged the teachers and students to check the shops surrounding the school area in order to stop selling of tobacco and tobacco related products to students and to protect them from the harmful effects of tobacco.
A power-point presentation on “activities to be undertaken in the district” was presented by Dr. Reyosalu Lase Vizo, District Nodal Officer, NTCP Phek District.
The programme was chaired by EAC Tiayanger Jamir and attended by committee members, officials from health & family welfare department, chairmen of different wards, Phek chamber of commerce, church leaders, officials from education department, GBs, president PAPO and student organisations.
