Parliamentary Secretary for Municipal Affairs, Economics & Statistics, R. Tohanba graced Chessore area GBs Union silver jubilee celebration on Wednesday at Chessore town under Shamator ADC headquarter.
According to DIPR report, the two day celebration was held under the theme “to promote village administration”.
Speaking on the occasion, Tohanba urged the GBs of the area to be wise as guardians of customary law.
He said that GBs should use wisdom wisely in every decision making and give appropriate justice to the people. Stating that although article 371 (A) of our constitution has given power and functions to the Nagas, he said Nagas should not misuse but rather set an example of the Naga judiciary system to world.
He also called upon the people to maintain peace and tranquility towards neighbouring villages and tribes which Tohanba said was the need of an hour.
Pastor, Chessore Village Baptist Church, Rev. Kumkiuba pronounced dedicatory prayer and the chief guest unveiled the monolith of Silver Jubilee programme.
The programme was chaired by GB Chessor Village, welcome address by president, Chessore Area GB Union, Meoji and vote of thanks was proposed by Shokum, Planning Chairman.
Short speeches were delivered by K. Lakiumong, president of Yimchunger GBs Union, Furahise Nyuwi, SDO (C) Chessore and Kelundo, founding member of Chessore Area GBs Union.
Cultural dances were presented by Shapowonger village cultural troupe, Chessore village cultural troupe and Sholumberu cultural club. Special number was presented by CYE Chessore town.
