
Tokheho Yeputhomi, MP Lok Sabha urged people to not always claim for their rights but to be accommodative in the spirit of give and take.
A press release from Kulolau Yeputhomi Kuqkahulu (KUK) publicity and information secretary, Otoka Yeputhomi stated that, Tokheho said this in his address during the KUK general session held at S. Vihuto village on December 17.
He urged the KUK and church to work hand in hand, to take the people forward while adding that the Naga society was sliding back in almost all aspects.
Commissioner & secretary, Y. Kikheto Sema welcomed the manner in which different clans within Sumi community formed their respective associations and come together at a common platform. However, he said once the main objective behind forming such associations are achieved like finding out the history of descendents, then one should do away with identification of a group of people through clans.
He discouraged marriages within clans and added there were also advantages of inter-tribal marriages. Kikheto said clanism, tribalism etc has had adverse effects on the society and called for an end to it.
KUK president, Kakihe Yeputhomi and Hokiye Yeputhomi, head GB of Khehokhu village also exhorted the gathering. Rev. Prof Akheto Yeputhomi, general secretary CBCNEI, Guwahati pronounced prayer invoking God’s blessings for the clan. Programme was attended by representatives of Yeputhomi clan from various villages and areas.
