The Office of the General Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Chozuba, Phek, organised a toolkit distribution programme on June 24 under the Prime Minister Vishwakarma scheme.
According to a press release, the programme was held to promote awareness about the scheme and support traditional artisans. Speaking on the occasion, General Manager of DIC Chozuba, Heinamgwangbe Narangbe, encouraged beneficiaries to make good use of the toolkits to preserve cultural crafts and gain recognition for their skills.
Altogether, 24 toolkits for basket making were distributed to beneficiaries from Suthuzu Nawe, Ruzazho, Phuhgi and Sekrezu villages.
It may be mentioned that Prime Minister Vishwakarma Scheme is a Central Sector Scheme launched by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The scheme aims to provide holistic and end-to-end support to artisans and craftspeople through access to collateral free credit, skill training, modern tools, incentive for digital transactions and market linkage support. With an outlay of Rs 13,000 crore, the scheme aims to bring traditional craftsmen into the medium and small business (MSME) circuit.
