DIMAPUR:

The Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) launching and distribution of machinery and tools sponsored by TRIFED, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, in collaboration with Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM), was held at Ighanumi village, Iphonumi village, and Ghathashi Town community halls on March 20.
Y. Vikheho Swu, former minister and president of NPF Farmers Wing Nagaland, graced the occasion as special guest. In his address, Vikheho lauded the village authorities and communities for fostering cordial relations and urged them to continue the spirit of unity and productivity. He called upon VDVK members to make full use of the machinery provided, stressing that Ghathashi and adjoining villages are fertile belts capable of producing organic crops and forest products in abundance.
Highlighting honey, soyabean, coffee, monkey bean, gooseberry, and wild apple as potential products, Vikheho encouraged entrepreneurs to tap into the rich resources for local and national markets. He envisioned Ghathashi and its villages as centres of excellence in agro-horticulture, livestock, education, and social development, aiming for recognition as the cleanest villages and best town in the State.
Nzanbemo Kikon, team member NBHM, explained the PMJVM schemes under which the VDVK program is implemented, emphasizing its role in empowering tribal communities through value addition, processing, packaging, and marketing of forest and agricultural produce. He reiterated that the ultimate goal was to triple tribal incomes and promote self-reliance.
The program at each venue included welcome speeches, dedicatory prayers, and votes of thanks by local leaders and pastors. The special guest was accompanied by leaders from NPF Pughoboto Division, Women Wing, Youth Wing, and Farmers Wing, along with government officials.
Meanwhile, the communities expressed gratitude to TRIFED and NBHM team led by chairman Obed Quinker, Agriculture Production Commissioner (Mission Director) V.
