8 CONFERRED DLSU ACADEMIC EXCELLENCY AWARD; 6 RECEIVED 2ND ‘THANGLONG YANLEM
Eight students from the Lotha community residing in Dimapur, were conferred the 8th Academic Excellency Award 2023 for securing top 20 positions in the HSLC and HSSLC examinations conducted by Nagaland Board of School Education.
The function to honour the students was organised by Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union (DLSU) at Lotha Hoho Ki, here on Saturday.
In HSLC, Lichanbeni B Shitiri with 96% secured 18th rank and Epirhoni N Jami with 96% secured the 18th rank. HSSLC (Arts)- Nzanti Jami with 88.6% received the award; Commerce stream- Mhachoni N Tungoe with 96.40% secured the 9th rank and in Science stream- Wonchilo T. Khuvung with 95% secured the 3rd rank, Mharonyingi R. Odyuo with 93.40 % secured the 7th rank, Zuchanbemo Humtsoe with 93.20% secured the 8th rank and Yanthungo E. Jami with 93.40% secured the 10th rank.
Nodal officer, Disaster Management, Dimapur, Rendemo Shitio, who graced the function as special guest congratulated the achievers and reminded that their achievement of today was the foundation of their career. He therefore encouraged them to not only work on achieving their own goal but to work and contribute for the community also.
A special prayer of blessing for the students was offered by pastor United Baptist Church, E. Longshithung Kikon.
Welcome address was delivered by DLSU president, Benthungo Jungi and a brief history on the setting up of academic excellency award was highlighted by DLSU edu. And statistical secretary, Rhondeno Odyuo.
The award for the HSLC was sponsored by late. Sanchisao Lotha; HSSLC (Arts)by late Nyamo Lotha; HSSL (Commerce) by Tsenthungo Nyamo Lotha and HSSLC (Science) by late Rhanlamo Lotha.
2nd ‘Thanglong Yanlem Award’
Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) on Saturday felicitated six toppers of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) with the 2nd “Thanglong Yanlem Award for Academic Excellence 2023”.
In a press release, KSU informed that the award ceremony was held at the Conference Hall of Konyak Union (KU) Mon, wherein toppers namely Awang P. Yimpushu (Top-1, HSSLC Science Stream), Nonya Konyak (Top-2, HSSLC Arts Stream), Nocklem Konyak (Top-11, HSLC), Potan K Konyak (Top-15, HSLC), Mayborn L Konyak (Top-17, HSLC) and Shongyo Konyak (Top-18, HSLC) were felicitated with a “certificate of meritorious award” along with the cash prize of Rs. 15,000 each.
Speaking on behalf of Thanglong Yanlem’s family, the sponsors, deputy director DSCO Mon, Chumei Yanlem said the family was humbled to take up the initiatives to felicitate the achievements of the toppers. Through this initiative, she hoped that other students would be inspired by the “excellence of toppers”.
Words of encouragement were also delivered by KU president, Tingthok; KNSK vice president, Bejem; EAC Mon Hq, Merishan Ezung and KGOU president, Er. Chinglang. The certificate and cash award were handed over to the toppers by wife of Thanglong Yanlem and KSU vice president.
The award ceremony was chaired by assembly affairs secretary KSU, Yeihtai Konyak; invocation was pronounced by Pastor Newsite Fellowship, Mosa; welcome address by vice president KSU, Yuwang and a prayer for all the toppers was said by KBBB executive secretary KBBB, Rev. Chemyuh. The ceremony ended with a mass benediction.
