ToT on CFR training for Kohima district commences

Training of Trainers (ToT) on Community First Responder (CFR) for Kohima district is underway, organised by district disaster management authority (DDMA) Kohima got underway on Tuesday and at Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland, conference hall, Kohima and would culminate on June 30.
A press note by DPA Kohima, Victor Yhome stated, additional deputy commissioner, Kohima, T.L Kiusumong Tikhir, exhorted the gathering and urged the various stake holders and village councils to be more affirmative in their response when various trainings were called and conducted. 
He said, Kohima being the capital, should be exemplary for the rest of the districts, therefore, the people had to be more prepared than others in various fields. 
Tikhir said, in any disaster situations, community would be the first to respond and that the community play a very important role in disaster management because the community know its topography, people and resources more than any other people. 
He said CFRs would be shouldering the responsibility to train others as they go back to their respective sub-divisions or villages.
Earlier, delivering welcome-cum-keynote address, DDMO Kohima, Thejangulie Zao, said the main objective of the CFR training was to impart and equip the community with the knowledge and skills of disaster management so that they were empowered to tackle various disasters. 
The first day of the training dwelt on topics such as introduction to disaster management in India and Nagaland, incident response system, roles and characteristics of CFR and knotting conducted by Jonjibemo Odyuo SRRO, Johnny Ruangmei OSD, Khrolou Koza Lohe STCBO and the SDRF respectively. The training was attended by all the five sub-divisions of Kohima District. Altogether, 40 trainees are participating in the training with more to join. The inaugural session was chaired by Victor Yhome.
