To felicitate the newly inducted parliamentary secretary for tourism C Apok Jamir, a felicitation cum departmental coordination programme was held at Conference Hall, Directorate of Tourism here Tuesday.
Speaking at the programme, parliamentary secretary for tourism, C Apok Jamir said tourism department needed room for improvement as it was a nodal department that could project the state in the right perspective on national media or global arena.
Stating that in today’s era everything boils down to economics, he said in order to enhance tourism in the rural area there was a need to create awareness and create the economic potentiality of that area.
Apok also proposed an interaction on the drawback and success of the department and ways to improve the inflow of tourism. Further, he said success of the department would be like a breath of fresh air to the state.
Secretary tourism and art and culture, Angau I Thou also spoke at the programme.
Welcome address was delivered by additional director K T Thomas and vote of thanks by deputy director Akhale Vizol. Tourism voice enthralled the gathering with a special number.
The programme was chaired by director of tourism Purakhu Angami and invocation was offered by assistant superintendent Temjenyula.
