Department of Tourism in collaboration with Nagaland Tourism Association (NTA) organized a capacity building and training for Tour Guides and Homestay Owners on May 12 and 13 last at Hotel Metsuben, Mokokchung in coinciding with Moatsu festival, which is the premier festival of Ao community.
According to NTA, participants from Mokokchung including students and neighbouring villages attended the training.
Delivering keynote speech, Sr. Tourist Officer, Mokokchung, Imtisenla Keditsu stressed on the need and importance of developing human resource especially in the rural areas, as Nagaland has immense potential in eco-tourism.
Resource persons-Kejaroko Pieru, Proprietor of Pier Tours, Veshehu Kezo and Veluzo Tetseo, Proprietor of Compass Tours, spoke on the topics – “Tourism potentials in Nagaland,” “Tour Guiding as a profession” and “Homestay as a business” respectively.
Veshehu Kezo, Proprietor of Tribal Odessey chaired the inaugural session.
In closing remark, Vimeto Vakha, president NTA, thanked the department of Tourism for their initiative and support to conduct capacity and awareness program in association with NTA.
