Tovihoto Ayemi flags off Marathon on ‘Run for a Drug-Free Nagaland’

As part of the Seva Pakhwada campaign, Advisor, Department of Tribal Affairs and Election, Government of Nagaland, Tovihoto Ayemi, MLA on Saturday flagged off a marathon under the theme “Run for a Drug-Free Nagaland” from the Dimapur Government College playground. The event was organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Nagaland.
The marathon drew over 3,500 participants, aged between 8 to 81. The route started at Dimapur Government College, passed through City Tower and Khermahal, and concluded at DDSC Stadium.
Wede T Mero emerged as the winner, followed by Taliyanger Ozukum in second place, while Rinky Das secured the third position. Special recognition was given to the youngest boy and girl participants as well as the oldest male and female participants, who received certificates and medals.
Addressing the gathering as special guest, Ayemi described the event as “truly historic,” noting that around 4,500 registered for the marathon with more than 3,500 actively participating. He commended the BJYM Nagaland for the initiative, calling it a noble and meaningful contribution to the ongoing nationwide Seva Pakhwada campaign, which continues until October 2 to mark the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Highlighting the significance of the marathon’s theme, Ayemi emphasized the urgent need to eradicate the menace of drugs and narcotics from society. He urged citizens across the state to spread awareness and join hands in building a drug-free Nagaland.
