Advisor for Tribal Affairs & Election H Tovihoto Ayemi has congratulated and lauded the State Election Commission (SEC) for successfully conducting the urban local body (ULB) elections across the state.
Tovihoto acknowledged that the dedication of the SEC led by election commissioner and the entire state machinery, including the law enforcement agencies and police, was instrumental in ensuring smooth and peaceful polls.
Noting that Dimapur witnessed exceptionally peaceful elections, he said due credit must be given to the police led by commissioner of police and the district administration led by deputy commissioner for effective policing, maintaining law and order, and keeping a painstaking vigil round the clock to prevent the occurrence of any untoward incident.
He conveyed his appreciation to all those responsible for ensuring free and fair elections in Dimapur district, besides the general public, civil society organisations, tribal organisations, etc, for playing a pivotal role in the success of the elections. Tovihoto asserted that history had been made under the dynamic leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio by implementing 33% women’s reservation in the ULBs.
Congratulating Rio and PDA government for facilitating the much-awaited ULB elections, he noted the ULBs had been elected at a time when Nagaland was making progress on all fronts under the good governance of Neiphiu Rio-led PDA government.
He said that the strong and spirited alliance between NDPP and BJP, along with other parties, had always remained intact. “With the election of urban local bodies, I believe that the Progressive Democratic Alliance will grow from strength to strength. In collaboration with the ULBs, the government will strive for more development and progress at the grassroots level,” he underscored.
The advisor also congratulated all those who had been duly elected to respective municipal councils and town councils, wishing them all success in their future endeavors to serve and work for the welfare of the people.
