TR highlights govt push for youth sensitization, technical education

Deputy Chief Minister for Planning & Transformation and National Highway, T.R. Zeliang, on Monday informed that the State Government was taking progressive steps to enhance sensitization and promote technical education among youth. He was speaking at the monthly meeting of the Peren District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, New District Headquarters, Peren on September 8, 2025.
In this regard, he directed the Deputy Commissioner, Peren, to organise a sensitization programme for civil society organisations across the district, including Tening and Nsong circles, to raise awareness on technical education and opportunities available through institutions such as ITI and Polytechnic, Peren.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to education, Zeliang informed that qualified lecturers had been appointed in all educational institutions, including Polytechnic, Peren, and urged civil society to avail the opportunities provided. He encouraged ITI and Polytechnic, Peren to prepare PowerPoint presentations for the upcoming sensitization seminar. DC Peren assured that a seminar would be organised to promote technical education in the district.
Zeliang also urged district officers to coordinate with their respective contractors to expedite construction works. He reiterated that Peren New District Headquarters was Nagaland’s first master plan area, designated as a Model Township for office and residential quarters, and that the policy would be strictly implemented.
According to DIPR report, the meeting began with a review of the previous minutes, followed by deliberation on various developmental agendas. The Board approved the proposal for creation of a Government Primary School at Tening Namsan. It also decided to organise the 11th Inter-Departmental Tournament in November and constituted an organising committee with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Peren as convener, SDO (Civil) Headquarters as member, and District Sports Officer as member secretary.
DC Peren, Hiazu Meru also briefed the house on efforts to improve internet connectivity and road infrastructure around government offices in the district headquarters. He informed that land allotments had been made to various departments for construction of office buildings.
During the meeting, Survey Officer, Department of Land Records, Phenrongwi Zeliang, presented a PowerPoint on departmental activities in the district. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the chair.
