A businessman sustained two bullet injuries on the neck and chest, when two local youths reportedly entered his shop near Durga Mandir and fired at him indiscriminately, Tuesday at around 11:30 a.m. Police said the businessman identified as Swapan Chandra Das, proprietor of M/S SC and Sons, was rushed to hospital and reported to be out of danger. Police said a patrol party nearby at the time of the incident chased the miscreants but did not open fire for fear of putting the public at risk. Police recovered two empty cases of 9 mm pistol from the spot.
