Pranab College celebrated its annual cultural day on February 21 under the theme “Celebrating Our Roots, Showcasing Our Talents,” reflecting the spirit of tradition, unity, and creativity among students.
The programme began with a welcome address by cultural secretary, PCSU, Chumei M. Konyak. In his introductory speech, principal Dr. Santosh Kumar emphasized the importance of cultural awareness and encouraged students to stay rooted in their traditions while confidently exploring and showcasing their talents.
The keynote address was delivered by head of the department of history, Tainla Jamir, who urged students to preserve and protect their cultural identity and heritage for future generations. She highlighted that culture forms the foundation of identity and must be cherished with pride and responsibility.
The inaugural ceremony was followed by a series of captivating performances that brought the theme to life. Students presented traditional dances, folk songs, drama, and musical performances representing various regions and communities. Participants adorned colorful traditional attire, adding authenticity and vibrancy to the celebration. Each presentation reflected respect for cultural roots while showcasing the creativity and confidence of the students.
A major highlight of the day was the drama competition, where Yellow House emerged as the winner with an outstanding performance, while Green House secured the runners-up position. Their teamwork and stage presence were widely appreciated by both judges and the audience.
