Traditional skills training for youths

In a bid to promote the traditional skills and knowledge to the youngsters, Lidi Kro-u, a group of likeminded women from different khels (sectors) of Kohima village conducted traditional skills and knowledge training for young boys and girls at Ziekezou, near DBHSS Kohima on Monday. 
The group expressed concern that younger generation were lacking in knowledge of traditional practices, whereby they came together with the idea of preservation and promotion of the traditional skills and knowledge of Angami community. 
Lidi Kro-u group imparted day long training on bamboo craft (Keprü Rhitho) for boys and rice pounding and cleaning (Ketsü Thu Mu Pekhrei) for girls. It was informed that around 50 teenagers came forward to learn the skills. 
Lidi Kro-u informed that they would continue to impart such traditional skills and folklores open to all interested youngsters, while during the upcoming Sekrenyi festival in February, they would impart training on cultural songs and traditional practices.
