In view of the visit of President of India to State capital on November 30 and December 1, the following traffic regulations have been enforced as part of the security arrangements.
In an advisory, Sr. SP Kohima, Vekhosa Chakhesang informed that no parking would be enforced along the road from 3rd Assam Rifles helipad to Raj Bhavan, Kohima via LCS building, TCP gate, Classic Island and from Raj Bhavan to Kisama along NH-2. Any vehicles found parked along the road on the above noted stretch would be towed away and necessary action will be initiated against the vehicle owners.
SP also informed that only vehicles having car passes A, B & C will be allowed entry at Gate No- I/ Main Gate of Naga Heritage Complex, Kisama on December 1 and car passes X, Y & Z will be applicable from December 2 to 10.
All officials and general public are requested to reach the Kisama by 9:30 am on December 1 as traffic movement will be restricted to facilitate the safe and smooth movement of the President and his entourage.
Further, SP informed that all traffic would be temporarily restricted from 12:30 p.m onwards on December 1, after the function to allow smooth passage for the president and his entourage.
Heavy vehicles have been restricted to enter Kohima town from 9 am on November 30 till the departure of the President of India.
DIMAPUR POLICE: In another advisory, Dimapur police through addl Dy. commissioner of police and PRO informed that no stationary or broken down vehicles will be allowed to be parked along the route from Airport Junction till Chapru (Bamboo Haat Piphema) during the President’s visit. Any vehicles found along the route causing traffic inconveniences and security risk will be towed away.
Dimapur police will also be conducting Motorcade rehearsal along the VVIP proposed route of travel from Dimapur (Airport junction) to Chapru(Bamboo Haat) on November 29 at 3 p.m. onwards. Therefore, public have been requested to bear with the inconveniences during the period of motorcade rehearsal.
Traffic regulation for Hornbill Night Bazaar
In another press statement, Sr. SP Kohim has informed that following traffic regulations would be enforced from 4 pm onwards in Kohima town from December 1 to 10 till the night carnival/bazaar is over. During the period, no vehicles would be allowed to park along the road on the right side from ‘Y’ junction till post office and only single parking will be allowed on the left side.
The road from Northern Gate of Local Ground till Razhu point will come under no parking zone. Vehicles found parked at the above mentioned area will be towed away and towing charge will be levied from the vehicle owners.
Further, the road from ‘Y’ junction till Razhu Police Point will be opened for only one way down and no vehicles will be allowed to enter from Razhu Police Point towards Khouchiezie (Kohima Local Ground) and from Congress Bhavan towards ‘Y’ junction. Entry of heavy vehicles to Kohima town has been restricted from 7 a.m. till 7 p.m. w.e.f December 1 to 10.
In view of the above, the Sr. SP has requested the public and vehicle users to extend cooperation to Kohima Traffic Police while enforcing the above traffic advisory.
