Traffic partially restored on NH-2

DIMAPUR, AUG 23 (NPN)

Kohima district administration and police led by deputy commissioner (DC) B. Henok Buchem and superintendent of police (SP) Krodi Rhetso, along with NHIDCL officials and Phesama council representatives, visited the landslide-affected stretch of NH-2 near Phesama on August 23, 2025. DC informed that traffic on NH-2 stretch, which was washed away during the recent monsoon, has been partially restored. He stated that the college bus service would resume from August 25, 2025.
DC has, however, informed that movement of heavy vehicles, including water tankers, paramilitary convoys, and commercial passenger vehicles, would remain suspended until further notice.

Restriction on taxi at Kohima town: The office of the deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima, has ordered restriction on movement of commercial taxis at Kohima town as part of measures to streamline and improve traffic management.
As per the order, commercial taxis would not be allowed to enter from Lower PWD Junction and exit from Middle Midland Junction near Oking Hospital between 9am and 5pm on all days, with immediate effect.
DC informed that the order has been issued in the public interest and appealed to the general public to extend cooperation with the authorities for its successful implementation.
