Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Kohima Division organised one-day training and capacity building on Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus and Operation and Maintenance on Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) on March 7 at PHED, Kohima Rural office.
A press release by PHED Kohima division informed that during the training the department also felicitated villages for their performances JJM and Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen).
The “best performing village” was awarded to Gariphema Bawe Village, “best practices” was awarded to Gariphema Bawe, Kiruphema Bawe and Kidima Villages, while the “best water and sanitation (WATSAN) committee chairman” went to Guju and Kidima villages.
In his speech, Executive Engineer (EE), PHED, Kohima Rural Division, Er. Subongyanger reminded the gathering that after completion of JJM, it was the responsibility of the villages to operate and maintain them.
State Human Resource Development (HRD) Consultant, Water and Sanitation Support Organization (WSSO), PHED, Nagaland, Kohima, Thenusou Sekhose encouraged the villages present to do their best to develop into ODF Plus Model villages, by being self-reliant and not depended on the government alone.
Sanitation and Hygiene Consultant, District Water and Sanitation (DWSM), Virhelie Kruneilie spoke on the topic, “Good sanitary practices”, while IEC & WASH Consultant, Vibou Seyie dwelt on “grey water management and plastic waste management”, and district coordinator, Ashale Seb spoke on “ODF Plus Component and Mobile App”.
