Considering the importance and urgency on protection, conservation and registration of the available bio resources of the state, KVK Dimapur, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland, Jharnapani organized training-cum-awareness programme on Protection of Plant Varierties and Farmers’ Right (PPV&FR) Act, 2001 and farmers variety registration.
The programmes held at two places- Singrijan village (March 21) and Molvom village (March 29) witnessed active participation of 64 farmers.
During the training programme, the farmers were highlighted on their rights, benefit sharing, farmers awards for individual or community of farmers, particularly tribal and rural community engaged in conservation, improvement and their contributions in preservation and conservation of plant genetic resources of land races and wild relatives of economic plants.
Later, training folder translated in Nagamese dialect on PPV&FR Act, 2001 were also distributed to the farmers along with Farmers’ variety registration forms and other related materials.
KVK Dimapur has offered to act as felicitators in registering their varieties with the authority.
